Social Issues in Western Europe
Property Prices
Property prices are so high that people who actually work in Monaco cannot afford to live there. Tens of thousands of people who work in the restaurants, shops, hotels, bars, casino, beach clubs, banks, etc. have to live in France or Italy because the homes are so expensive. This effect Western Europe because the population of Monaco is a lot lower and the population of France is increasing and not a lot of people choose to live in Monaco and chooses to live elsewhere due to this fact.
The Youth
Western Europe’s current social problem is high rates of risk behaviors in the country's youth. They have made attempts to establish some sort of reformation for the youth of the country by putting more funds into education but only to be stopped by the following problems: drinking, smoking, and high suicide rates among younger, under age individuals. In most countries in Western Europe, it is legal for children at the age of 14 to drink beer or wine. This effects Western Europe because kids are starting to drink at a younger age causing more health problems and are choosing to drink instead of getting an education.
Prostitution
In France, prostitution is a major issue. There are about 20,000 people in France working in prostitution. The cause of prostitution in France is due to the fact of sex trafficking. But in some cases, women chose to have prostitution as their profession. The citizens of France along with the government want to put a stop to this. The government is trying to pass a law stating that if anyone is caught in prostitution or trafficking, they will be fined and imprisoned. Even though there are already some laws in place, to help prevent this, it is broken on a daily basis. Women in this profession are angry because they think of it as their job, it is their way of making money to support themselves. They believe that even though it is sex work, it is still work. This effect Western Europe because it gives Western Europe a bad reputation and the rate of violence increases.
